The One Big Day Motability events have started again this year at the NEC in Birmingham.
These events will be touring the country, and give manufacturers the opportunity to showcase cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs for disabled people.
The One Big Day Events allow members of the public to inspect a range of adapted and non-adapted vehicles, including vehicles which are wheel chair accessible, and even arrange test drives on the day. The vehicles on show may have a range of adaptions on them. Primary driving controls, which allows the driver to operate steering, acceleration and braking, as well as secondary driving controls which controls equipment such as indicators, wipers, handbrake, lights and gears. Other adaptions may include wheelchair hoists and a number of variable seat modifications.
The Motability scheme enables disabled people to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair, and as of September 2017, according to the National Audit Office, there were 614,00 lease agreements in place. This represents a valuable and much needed sector of the market, and G. Transport are extremely proud to have been involved with the transportation of both adapted and non-adapted vehicles for the One Big Day events for over 5 years.
